Mike Evans selected for sixth Pro Bowl as he reaches 1,000 yards for 11th consecutive season
NEW YORK (AP) -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans achieved his 11th straight 1,000-yard season and has now been named a Pro Bowler for the sixth time.
Evans was selected to the Pro Bowl Games on Monday as a replacement player following vacancies created by the Super Bowl participants -- the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs -- in addition to injuries.
With his sixth selection, Evans ties former Buccaneers fullback Mike Alstott for the most Pro Bowl selections in franchise history. Despite missing three full games and significant time in a fourth due to a hamstring injury, he concluded the season with 1,004 receiving yards, highlighted by a 9-yard catch in the fourth quarter of Tampa Bay's finale.
Additionally, on Monday, Atlanta's Bijan Robinson was named to his first Pro Bowl, stepping in for Eagles star Saquon Barkley.
New York Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers was also added to the roster, marking the first time a rookie has made the Pro Bowl for the team since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014.
Washington's Bobby Wagner was named as a replacement for Philadelphia's Zack Baun a day after the Commanders' loss to the Eagles in the NFC championship game. This selection marks Wagner's 10th appearance.
Other notable replacements include New Orleans centre Erik McCoy for Cameron Jurgens of Philadelphia, and Seattle defensive end Leonard Williams for Jalen Carter of Philadelphia, both making their second Pro Bowl appearances.
Minnesota offensive tackle Brian O'Neill is also making his second Pro Bowl, replacing Lane Johnson of Philadelphia.
Carolina guard Robert Hunt takes over for Landon Dickerson of Philadelphia, whilst Detroit offensive tackle Taylor Decker steps in for injured Lions teammate Penei Sewell.
In the AFC, Miami tight end Jonnu Smith will replace Travis Kelce of Kansas City. Cleveland offensive guard Joel Bitonio makes his seventh straight Pro Bowl appearance replacing Joe Thuney of Kansas City. New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams will also make his third consecutive appearance in place of Chris Jones from Kansas City.
The Pro Bowl Games will take place from Thursday through Sunday in Orlando and will feature skills competitions together with a flag football game.
