Multiple Suspects Sought After Truck Crash and Robbery in Scarborough Plaza
Multiple suspects are sought by police after a truck crashed into a Scarborough plaza's store and cut a gas line before another shop was robbed.
Toronto police reported that the truck drove into a store inside a plaza near Eglinton Avenue and Brimley Road just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Following the crash, four or five suspects exited the truck and proceeded to rob another store in the area. They then fled in a different, light-coloured vehicle.
Prem Kanatathai, who witnessed the incident, mentioned that he saw multiple individuals smash the windows of a nearby jewelry store. He observed them grabbing items from the store before fleeing the scene.
During the chaos, the truck struck a gas meter located in front of 2653 Eglinton Avenue East, which resulted in a gas leak. Toronto fire officials stated that the leak was capped about an hour later, although the plaza was evacuated for safety reasons. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and a TTC shelter bus was dispatched to the scene.
