Weinstein Objects to Retrial Date Amid Health Concerns
The disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has expressed objections after Judge Curtis Farber announced that the retrial would commence on April 15. Weinstein requested a change in schedule, suggesting that it could be swapped with another unrelated trial that the judge is set to conduct in March.
Speaking at a hearing in state court in Manhattan, Weinstein remarked, "Everyday I'm at Rikers Island, it's a mystery to me how I'm still walking."
At 72 years old, Weinstein is grappling with multiple health issues, including chronic myeloid leukemia, heart complications, and diabetes. He conveyed his frustrations to Judge Farber, stating that jail officers had provided him with incorrect medication the previous morning and failed to transport him to court promptly.
Weinstein voiced concern for others, indicating, "So many people suffering on Rikers Island."
