Skeet Ulrich shares his excitement about Matthew Lillard's return in Scream 7, highlighting the duo's legacy as iconic Ghostface killers. Both actors express enthusiasm for their comeback in the franchise.
Matthew Lillard's original Ghostface co-conspirator, Skeet Ulrich, has expressed his excitement for Lillard's return in Scream 7. Ulrich, who portrayed Billy Loomis in the 1996 film, recently enjoyed a comeback in the franchise with 2022's Scream and its 2023 sequel. Lillard's re-entry into the series was officially announced in late January.
During a panel at this year's MEGACON Orlando, Ulrich shared his reaction to Lillard's return. He revealed that Lillard personally informed him of the news and conveyed his joy for his friend's return to the franchise. “Matt called me and told me when word came down. I was so ecstatic for you,” Ulrich said, highlighting Lillard's long-standing desire to reprise the role of Stu Macher.
Since the original Scream, the franchise has introduced numerous Ghostface killers, but few have matched the impact of Billy and Stu. This was evident from Lillard's recent Instagram post quoting, “My Mom and Dad are gonna be soo mad at me!!” which was met with overwhelming excitement from fans.
While theories about Stu Macher's survival have circulated since his presumed death in the original film, Lillard has endorsed these notions. In a 2021 interview, he claimed, “Yes! I'm alive! Stu is alive!” and has asked fans to support this theory.
With Ulrich returning as Billy Loomis, it feels fitting for his partner in crime to also be given another chance. However, it's uncertain how Lillard will return in Scream 7, and there’s speculation that he may appear only in flashbacks.
