Bills Lose AFC Championship to Chiefs Extending Super Bowl Drought
On Sunday, Josh Allen's Bills fell 32-29 to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Despite winning the last four regular-season meetings against Kansas City, Allen's squad has now fallen to 0-4 against Mahomes in the postseason.
First it was the AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs four years ago. Then it was the "13-Second Game" in the 2021 Divisional Round. Then it was Wide Right II in last year's Divisional Round.
So perhaps yesterday's outcome was all too predictable. But it doesn't take away the pain from Allen and Bills Mafia, who will now see their team's Super Bowl appearance drought extend to 32 years.
After Sunday's AFC Championship loss, a fan put together a compilation showing all of Josh Allen's dejected reactions to Buffalo losing to Kansas City in the playoffs. And regardless of which team you cheer for, it's awfully hard not to feel for him.
Allen played near-perfect football against the Chiefs, completing 22 of 34 pass attempts for 237 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and 39 rushing yards. But ultimately, the Chiefs made just a few more plays to squeak this one out.
Josh Allen & Bills Just Have To Keep On Trucking
It's easy to get overly excited and call for the Bills to make significant changes, but they're really just a few bounces away from being 3-1 against Kansas City in playoff games.
If Allen gets that first down on the 4th-and-inches sneak, or if Dalton Kincaid catches that fourth-down heave, we probably aren't talking about another crushing Buffalo playoff loss to Kansas City.
So all the Bills can do is try to continue learning from their playoff heartbreak and hope the luck goes their way for once. Remember, Peyton Manning and John Elway didn't finally win it all until their age-30 and age-37 seasons, respectively.
