Job Cuts Continue in 2025 Amid Technological Changes
Job layoffs and workforce reductions are ongoing in 2025, following significant job cuts observed across various sectors including tech, media, finance, manufacturing, retail, and energy over the past two years.
The reasons for these workforce reductions are diverse, but they largely stem from cost-cutting measures amid rapid technological advancements. A recent survey conducted by the World Economic Forum revealed that approximately 41% of global companies expect to downsize their workforces in the next five years due to the increasing impact of artificial intelligence.
Notable companies such as CNN, Dropbox, and IBM have already announced job cuts that are specifically associated with AI developments. Interestingly, while many positions are being eliminated, the demand for tech jobs in big data, fintech, and artificial intelligence is projected to double by 2030, according to the WEF.
The following companies have announced job cuts planned or already in progress for 2025:
- CNN
