Premier League Clubs Dominate Latest Deloitte Money League Report
The latest Deloitte Money League report reveals Premier League clubs' financial dominance in Europe, with revenue growth attributed mainly to matchday and commercial income.
The latest Deloitte Money League report highlights the financial strength of European football clubs, with Paris St-Germain, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich occupying the top three spots due to their substantial revenues.
Aston Villa has made a notable entry into the top 20 after participating in European competitions for the first time since 2011. In total, nine Premier League clubs are featured in the top 20, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Newcastle, and West Ham, who all maintain their positions.
Olympique Lyonnais is the only other new addition to the list, while Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt have dropped out. Additionally, five Premier League clubs have secured spots in the top 30, with Brighton finishing in 21st place after their inaugural Europa League campaign.
Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and Wolverhampton Wanderers rank between 26th and 29th position. Overall, revenues for the top 20 clubs have surged by 6%, reaching a record £9.47 billion.
The fastest growing revenue source is matchday revenue, which has increased by 11% to £1.77 billion. This growth is attributed to a rise in stadium capacity, ticket prices, and premium hospitality offerings.
Real Madrid has seen the most significant benefit from matchday revenue, generating £210 million, doubling their earnings from the previous year, following renovations to their iconic Bernabeu Stadium.
Barcelona has dropped from fourth to sixth place owing to a £53 million decline in matchday revenue, as they played in a smaller stadium while their Nou Camp venue is undergoing redevelopment.
Commercial revenue remains the largest contributor in the Money League, escalating by 10% to £4.14 billion and comprising 44% of the overall revenue, bolstered by hosting non-football events such as concerts.
Tim Bridge, the lead partner in Deloitte's sports business group, remarked, "Money League clubs continue to break records with ongoing growth in commercial and matchday revenues."
The total broadcast revenue has held steady at £3.64 billion as the major five leagues—the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A—continue to operate within the same domestic broadcast cycle.
