Tech Companies Urged to Remove Violent Content to Prevent Attacks
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has urged online platforms to take immediate action to remove violent content that was viewed by the Southport killer, to prevent further attacks. Her remarks were made during an interview with Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday.
This call comes on the heels of a letter from the Home Secretary addressed to major social media and technology companies including X, Meta, TikTok, Google, and YouTube, stating that the easy access to violent material is unacceptable.
The 18-year-old perpetrator was sentenced last week to a minimum of 52 years in prison for the murder of three young girls and for attempting to murder 10 other individuals, among them eight children.
During the same programme, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch suggested that the killer's lack of integration into society contributed to the heinous acts committed by Rudakubana.
