Nick Cave's Desert Island Picks Revealed
Nick Cave, the acclaimed singer and writer, has shared the eight tracks, a book, and a luxury item he would choose if cast away on a desert island during a chat with Lauren Laverne.
Cave, known for his emotionally intense music with the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, has also made a name for himself as a novelist, composer, and filmmaker. Since forming his first band, the Boys Next Door, in 1973, Cave has had a significant impact on the music scene, with a career spanning over four decades.
After moving to London in 1980 and rebranding as the Birthday Party, Cave and his band released their debut album, From Her to Eternity, in 1984. They have since gone on to release a total of 18 albums.
Tragedy struck Cave’s family in 2015 when he lost his son Arthur to an accidental fall, followed by the death of his eldest son, Jethro, seven years later. In response to his grief, he created the Red Hand Files in 2018, an online platform where he answers fan inquiries, helping him to process his emotions in a creative way.
In recognition of his contributions to the arts, Nick Cave was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2017.
