Windsor Welcomes Canadian Battery Materials Company NEO Battery Materials
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens announced the establishment of NEO Battery Materials during a press conference held Thursday afternoon at the Invest WindsorEssex Automobility and Innovation Centre.
NEO Battery Materials, a Canadian battery materials company, specializes in coatings and the development of silicon anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are essential for applications in electric vehicles, electronics, and energy storage systems.
The company has developed a patented manufacturing process that reduces costs, enhances battery range, and minimizes charging time.
Plans are in place for the company to construct both manufacturing and research and development facilities at its new location on the Windsor Airport lands.
This plant is set to be the first of its kind in Canada, with an estimated cost of around $100 million and the creation of approximately 130 jobs.
