Trump Claims Delivery of Heavy Bombs to Israel Resumes Amid Controversy
In a recent post on his Truth Social network, former President Donald Trump announced that "A lot of things that were ordered and paid for by Israel, but have not been sent by Biden, are now on their way!" Trump was specifically referring to the heavy bombs. A Trump administration official, who requested anonymity, confirmed his statement but was not authorized to share that information publicly.
In May, then-President Joe Biden paused the delivery of these substantial bombs. This decision was part of an initiative aimed at preventing Israel from engaging in a full-scale assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Despite the halt, Israel gained control of Rafah a month later, after the majority of the 1 million civilians living or sheltering there had already fled.
Biden expressed concerns in May regarding the ramifications of supplying such weapons, stating, "Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers." He further emphasized his stance by indicating that he would not supply the historically used weapons intended for operations in Rafah.
