Trade War Consequences and Leadership Critique in Canada
It seems that there are only two ways we can win this trade war with Trump. One is to convince him to have pity on us and allow us to sell our products in his marketplace, to the detriment of his own people. The other is to let us be part of his nation. How did we get to this lose-lose situation?
A weak prime minister in Trudeau has in many ways put us here.
Re "Trudeau's team goes all in on Carney while Clark implodes" (Brian Lilley, Jan. 11): We remember the coronation of Justin Trudeau and now seem to be witnessing the coronation of Mark Carney! One would think going from someone whose previous job was as a part-time drama teacher to a former governor of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England would be a huge upgrade.
However, Carney will deliver the exact same ideologically driven policies as Trudeau. Carney may be even more radical with his views on climate change.
In fact, Carney was an advisor to the United Nations on climate change and fiscal policies. To make matters far worse, Trudeau is 'gifting' Carney his chief advisors who helped him get Canada in its disastrous current situation. These are Gerald Butts, who advised Trudeau on climate change and cannabis, and Katie Telford who was Trudeau's gate keeper and obstructionist.
