Anderson stated, "We didn't feel that we were taking anything away from the viewers because they were pretty much toeing the starting line… And we wanted to surprise our viewers."
While this logic is understandable, especially considering the time jump that facilitated many changes in season 4, some viewers may feel they missed out on witnessing a pivotal moment in the characters' lives. The lingering question remains: was the surprise wedding enough of a payoff for missing the engagement?
