The Supportive Cabin Initiative in Brockville offers essential support to the homeless, with 25 cabins open to assist clients in overcoming homelessness.
At Brockville's newly-opened Supportive Cabin Initiative site, members of the homeless population are demonstrating resilience and hope.
Holmes, assistant executive director of the John Howard Society of Kingston and District, led a brief tour of the cabins, located on the grounds of Brockville's former pollution control plant administration building, for local politicians, alongside officials from the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.
The county government has partnered with John Howard Society to operate the site, which officially opened on February 3. The initiative consists of 25 cabins, 17 of which are currently occupied, providing essential support to clients from across the Leeds and Grenville area, enabling them to break free from the cycles of homelessness.
