North Vancouver District Shuts Down X Account Amid Concerns
The District of North Vancouver has permanently closed its X account amid rising community concerns about the platform. Officials are exploring alternative social media options while maintaining other communication channels.
The District of North Vancouver (DNV) has taken the decision to permanently close its corporate account on X, formerly known as Twitter, due to declining public engagement and local concerns regarding the social media platform. The district's chief administrative officer, David Stuart, noted that complaints included descriptions of the platform as "bigoted" and "homophobic." He remarked, "What was raised was the question as to why we would use this forum for a public institution, and is it appropriate?"
