London Knights Win Despite Easton Cowan's Point Streak Ending
The London Knights have proven they can secure a victory even without Easton Cowan contributing on the score sheet. Cowan, a prospect for the Toronto Maple Leafs, ended his remarkable streak of 65 regular-season games with at least a point during the Knights' 3-1 victory against the Peterborough Petes on Friday.
Although Cowan's streak, which began last season, is impressive, it will not be documented as an official record. He previously surpassed Mario Lemieux's record of 61 consecutive CHL games with at least a point, which was set during the 1983-84 season.
The Knights, who won the OHL championship last season and were runners-up at the Memorial Cup, saw Cowan named the most outstanding player in the OHL. At present, they boast the best record in the OHL this season.
Cowan was drafted in the first round, 28th overall, by the Maple Leafs in 2023. The right winger from Mount Brydges, Ontario, is anticipated to compete for a place on the Leafs roster as early as next season.
This season, Cowan has excelled, contributing 18 goals and 22 assists for a total of 40 points in 30 games while representing Team Canada at the world junior championship for the past two years.
