Fanny Bay Oyster Bar Hosts Annual Fundraiser for Marine Conservation
Fanny Bay Oyster Bar's annual fundraiser, From Oysters to Orcas, returns on February 26, featuring oyster shucking, canapés, and a discussion on marine conservation, supporting the Georgia Strait Alliance.
Fanny Bay Oyster Bar is once again teaming up with the Georgia Strait Alliance for the return of From Oysters to Orcas, an annual fundraiser dedicated to protecting local waters. The event's eighth edition takes place on February 26 at the Michelin-recommended seafood spot's Cambie Street location.
The evening will feature oyster shucking demos, canapés from head chef Alex Guido, and a panel discussion highlighting the importance of marine conservation. Guests will hear from Marine Ecosystems senior environmentalist Anuradha Rao and Tsleil-Waututh Nation (səlilwətaɬ) cultural and technical specialist Michelle George, offering insights into sustaining the Salish Sea's rich biodiversity.
Tickets are available on a sliding scale, with all proceeds supporting the GSA's mission to protect the Salish Sea, ensuring a future where both marine life and coastal communities thrive.
"We're thrilled to once again join forces with the GSA to shine a spotlight on the work that it does for the health and sustainability of the environment that we share," shares Fanny Bay Oyster Bar co-owner Malindi Taylor, in a statement. "From Oysters to Orcas is a vital event that raises funds for and awareness of an organization that endeavours to inspire positive, lasting change both now and for future generations."
Whether you're a marine conservation enthusiast or just in it for the oysters, it's an evening worth diving into.
