Raptors Trade Davion Mitchell to Heat for PJ Tucker and Draft Pick
The Toronto Raptors have traded guard Davion Mitchell to the Miami Heat in exchange for veteran forward PJ Tucker, a 2026 second-round pick, and cash.
The deal was reported just hours before the NBA's trade deadline on Thursday, but it was officially confirmed shortly after.
The Raptors acquired Mitchell earlier in the off-season through a trade with Sacramento.
The second-round draft pick involved in this trade comes from the Los Angeles Lakers.
This season, Mitchell is averaging 6.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists over 44 games. The 26-year-old guard has notably impressed with his defensive abilities. He recently missed two games before returning in Toronto's loss against Memphis on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old Tucker, who has had two previous stints with the Raptors, is currently averaging 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds across 31 games this season.
As the trade deadline approached, reports emerged stating that James Wiseman along with cash were traded from the Indiana Pacers to Toronto. Wiseman has averaged six points and one rebound for the Pacers after suffering an Achilles tendon injury in his first game of the season.
On Wednesday, it was also reported that the Raptors acquired small forward Brandon Ingram from New Orleans for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round pick, and a second-round pick from an undisclosed year. Ingram, who is 6'8", is averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists this season, but has not played since December 7 due to a sprained left ankle.
Toronto initially acquired Brown on January 17, 2024, as part of a significant deal with Indiana for all-star Pascal Siakam. Brown has averaged 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists this season following off-season arthroscopic knee surgery.
Olynyk, a native of Toronto, was traded to his boyhood team by the Utah Jazz on February 8, 2024. He later signed a two-year extension with the Raptors worth a reported USD 26.25 million. Olynyk started the 2024-25 season dealing with back issues but has managed an average of seven points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists so far this season.
Currently, Toronto holds a 16-36 record and has a 42.1 per cent chance of securing a top four pick in the upcoming NBA draft lottery, with a 10.5 per cent chance of selecting first overall. Cooper Flagg from the Duke Blue Devils is considered the consensus top pick in this summer's draft.
The Raptors are set to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night. The Thunder enter the game riding a three-game winning streak, boasting an average victory margin of over 31 points during this stretch, which includes two of their highest-scoring games of the season.
Toronto has lost its last two games, following a strong run of six wins in seven games. Scottie Barnes, the Raptors' second-leading scorer at 19.9 points per game, struggled, missing 14 of 18 shots in a 138-107 defeat to Memphis on Wednesday, marking the Raptors' largest loss of 2025.
