Fast and Furious Actors Address Tension Between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel
Jordana Brewster discusses the ongoing feud between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel in the Fast and Furious franchise, noting how it reflects real family dynamics and suggesting that peace may be found.
The Fast and the Furious franchise star Jordana Brewster has discussed the ongoing feud between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel. Brewster, who has portrayed Mia Toretto since the original 2001 film, mentioned that the recent awkward moment during Diesel's award presentation at the Golden Globe was reflective of the franchise's central theme of family.
In her interview with ET Online, Brewster commented, "I think what's so fun about -- when we keep talking about family, Fast is about family. Families are also dysfunctional." She believes that the off-screen drama between Diesel and Johnson mirrors real family dynamics.
The public feud began in 2016 when Johnson accused an unnamed male co-star of unprofessionalism during the production of The Fate of the Furious. Although Diesel has attempted to mend fences publicly, the tension has persisted. Despite Johnson’s appearance in the post-credits scene of Fast X and a new spin-off featuring his character, the acrimony remains a significant factor influencing the franchise.
Brewster suggested that peace may have been found between Johnson and Diesel, helping to assure fans that the franchise can continue smoothly as it approaches its conclusion.
