Warriors Celebrate Players and Jersey Numbers in Team History
The Golden State Warriors honor their history of jersey numbers and players, focusing on Paul Pressey, who wore jersey No. 15 during his time with the team.
The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history.
Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA), a precursor league of the NBA, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego.
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the 12th of 27 players who wore the No. 5 jersey for the Warriors.
That player would be Golden State guard alum Paul Pressey. After ending his college career at Tulsa, Pressey was picked up with the 20th overall selection of the 1982 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Richmond, Virginia native played the first 8 seasons of his pro career with the Bucks, as well as a pair with the San Antonio Spurs before signing with the Dubs for the last season of his NBA career.
During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Pressey wore only jersey No. 15 and put up 4.4 points, 1.7 rebounds, and as many assists per game.
