Tyreek Hill reflects on his emotional Week 18 comments expressing frustration over missing the playoffs but reaffirms his commitment to the Dolphins for the upcoming season.
In an interview with Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio and Chris Simms, Tyreek Hill expressed regret over his emotional outburst during the Week 18 postgame media session.
"I'm in a good space, man. I've had a conversation with my mom, had a conversation with my wife. Basically, as a father, you don't need to put yourself in a situation like that. It doesn't matter how you feel. Man up," Hill told Florio and Simms. "At the end of the day, you are a leader of men, you are a leader of this team. So, you got to know how to handle yourself in those moments. Take accountability, and I'm taking full accountability of what I said. I don't deserve to say anything like that."
He continued, "I fully take it back. I'm going to take full accountability of it. I'm going to come back next year, hoping to still be there, and bust my tail for the team, for the guys, for the fans, for the whole city."
When asked whether he wanted to return to the Dolphins in 2025, Hill answered with certainty, "I want to stay with the Dolphins."
The Dolphins receiver caused quite a stir on social media with his postgame remarks, which indicated a desire to leave Miami this offseason. "I'm opening the door. I'm out, bro," he told reporters, as reported by The Miami Herald's Omar Kelly. "It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I got to do what's best for my career."
Hill's comments reflected an emotional outburst stemming from frustration at missing the postseason, as the Dolphins were eliminated after losing in Week 18. Following the game, speculation circulated regarding a potential trade, even as Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, clarified that Hill's feelings were a result of disappointment.
"Tyreek is very passionate," Rosenhaus said. "Anyone I've ever represented that was great was passionate, they cared. What you see with Tyreek is very genuine. He wants to win. It's not good enough for him not to make the playoffs. He's very passionate."
Statistically, Hill also faced challenges during the season; his average yards per catch dropped to 11.8, his lowest since 2021, while he recorded just 959 receiving yards, marking a significant decline since his 2019 performance.
After the season concluded, Hill met with Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel to discuss the situation, although trade rumors persisted. However, Hill's recent comments expressing his commitment to the Dolphins could help quell any lingering speculation about his future with the team.
