Late Night Comedy Targets Chuck Schumer for Response to Trump's Policies
Late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Seth Meyers have openly criticized Senator Chuck Schumer's attempts to speak against President Donald Trump's policies.
Kimmel expressed his dismay, saying, "We're so f-----," after viewing Schumer's recent rally alongside Rep. Maxine Waters, where Schumer chanted, "we will win, we will win, we will win." He further added, "we won't rest, we won't rest!"
Liberal commentator Bakari Sellers voiced disappointment in the Democratic planning, specifically targeting Schumer. He argued that the focus should instead be on small business owners affected by policies rather than politicians.
On "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart called out Schumer's remarks regarding Trump's tariffs, referencing a clip where Schumer mentioned avocados and beer. Stewart questioned, "Your response to the trade war is to f------ tell us guacamole is made of avocados?"
Stewart further urged Democrats to stop featuring Schumer in responses to Trump, asserting that he is not effective in these roles.
Schumer's comments regarding a funding freeze also became the butt of late-night jokes. Schumer had claimed, "People are aroused," which prompted laughter from late-night hosts like Colbert and Meyers, with Meyers remarking, "I've never in my life been less aroused than hearing Chuck Schumer say the word aroused."
Democratic strategist Chai Komanduri criticized the Democratic leadership's sluggish response to the Trump administration's initial actions, highlighting the disarray within the party.
