Blake Lively Receives Support Amid Legal Battle with Justin Baldoni
Blake Lively faces criticism for promoting her film amid a legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Director Paul Feig shows support, while both parties are involved in intense legal proceedings.
Blake Lively recently faced criticism for promoting her upcoming film during her ongoing legal dispute with Justin Baldoni. However, director Paul Feig publicly came to her defense.
On Tuesday, Prime Video announced the premiere of Lively's new film, "Another Simple Favor," starring alongside Anna Kendrick. The announcement included tags for Lively, Kendrick, Feig, Amazon MGM Studios, and the film's official Instagram page.
Reactions to the post varied, with some users questioning if the project would feature "Paul Feig's cut or Blake's cut," alluding to her legal issues with Baldoni.
"It's my cut. There is no other cut. Blake has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with," Feig clarified. He praised Lively as an amazing collaborator amidst her lawsuit against Baldoni for sexual harassment, retaliation, and emotional distress.
Despite the support from some fans, others expressed disapproval, stating they would not support Lively or would not watch her projects. However, some users pledged to watch the new film in solidarity with her.
Lively's lawsuit follows the filing of a complaint with the California Civil Rights department, which later escalated to federal court in December. In retaliation, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, claiming civil extortion and defamation.
The public dispute intensified, with Baldoni accusing Lively of stalling the film's marketing and editing process over her demands regarding the use of a Taylor Swift song.
In the midst of this legal drama, Lively's legal team requested a gag order against Baldoni's lawyer to prevent statements that could prejudice the jury pool.
As of now, both legal teams are bound by courtroom regulations that limit press interactions. However, they can still defend their clients in response to external publicity.
