Canadian Government to Review Amazon Deal Following Job Cuts
The Canadian government plans to review its business deals with Amazon following the company's warehouse closures in Quebec and significant job losses.
Canada's industry minister, Francois-Philippe Champagne, has stated that Amazon.com Inc.'s decision to shut down all warehouses in Quebec and eliminate over 1,900 jobs will lead the government to reassess its current agreements with the e-commerce giant.
In a letter addressed to Amazon Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy, which was shared on the social media platform X, Champagne emphasized the necessity for a thorough review of the business relationship between Amazon and the Government of Canada.
