Bird Flu Outbreak Drives Egg Prices to Record Highs
The ongoing bird flu outbreak has led to significant losses in the U.S. egg industry, driving prices up as producers struggle to manage infecting sources and repopulation challenges.
Brian Moscogiuri, a global trade strategist at Eggs Unlimited, stated, "We are all in uncharted territory." The egg industry has suffered a significant loss, with 26 million birds lost since October, exceeding 7% of the total flock. Moscogiuri added, "It seems as bad as it has ever been," noting that producers feel they have little recourse.
