Bill Gates Criticizes Elon Musk's Political Involvement in Foreign Elections
Bill Gates critiques Elon Musk's increasing political involvement in foreign elections, arguing it could destabilize political situations. Gates advocates for safeguards against foreign influence in politics.
Bill Gates has expressed concern over Elon Musk's involvement in the politics of foreign countries such as the UK and Germany. In a recent interview with the UK's The Times, Gates described Musk's actions as "really insane," noting the potential destabilization of political situations that could arise from Musk's influence.
Musk has recently become more vocal regarding UK and German politics, calling for the removal of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and speaking at a campaign rally for the German far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD). In an op-ed for a German newspaper, he referred to the AfD as "the last spark of hope for this country" and praised their controlled immigration policies.
Gates suggested that safeguards should be put in place to prevent wealthy foreigners from influencing foreign elections, echoing regulations in the US that restrict foreign monetary contributions. He expressed his thoughts on Musk's role in foreign political affairs, stating that such outspoken declarations are inappropriate and that individuals of high intelligence like Musk should focus on ways to help rather than dictate political directions.
Gates noted this is not the first time he has disagreed with Musk. For instance, in 2021, he remarked on a podcast that he was not interested in space travel, a domain where Musk has made significant strides with SpaceX.
