Love Spoons Tradition Celebrated on St Dwynwen's Day in Wales
This St Dwynwen's Day, a tradition that dates back to the 17th Century is being celebrated in Wales with the exchange of love spoons. These handcrafted wooden spoons symbolise affection and are often given as tokens of love.
Mathew Browne, a photographer from Carmarthen, remarked on the beauty of the local church, describing it as a "hotspot" for photographers due to its picturesque scenery. He noted, "It is rare to have the island to yourself with the age of social media; everyone is trying to get that shot for Instagram," highlighting the challenges of capturing the location without crowds.
Mr Browne, 34, expressed his intentions to celebrate the day with his wife and hopes to revisit the church. He shared, "I haven't got a card or anything today, but I will do a cwtchy dinner in with my wife tonight," showcasing the importance of personal celebrations in their relationship.
