Sudan-born man faces court for visa reporting breach
A Sudan-born man is in Brisbane Magistrates Court facing charges for not complying with his visa reporting conditions, with potential penalties including imprisonment and fines.
A Sudan-born man is set to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, January 29, 2025, charged with failing to comply with his visa-mandated reporting conditions.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) charged the 37-year-old man yesterday, January 28, 2025, after he was located in Brisbane.
It will be alleged that the man breached one of the conditions of his Commonwealth visa between January 4, 2025, and January 27, 2025, by failing to report as directed.
The man has been charged with one count of failing to comply with a requirement of the monitoring condition, contrary to section 76B (1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).
This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a fine of $93,900.
