Defence Personnel Honoured on Australia Day
This Australia Day, seventy-nine Defence personnel were honoured with Australian Honours and Awards for their contributions, alongside spectacular ADF displays and community engagement activities.
Seventy-nine Defence personnel received Australian Honours and Awards this Australia Day, recognising their significant contributions to our country.
Among the recipients, there were 25 Order of Australia recipients and 54 Military Award recipients from across the Australian Defence Force.
In support of Australia Day, the ADF showcased spectacular displays in and around Sydney Harbour and Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra.
Commander of the Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Christopher Smith, AM, CSM, expressed pride in Defence's participation in Australia Day activities nationwide. He stated, "Our sailors, soldiers and aviators are excited to strengthen their relationship with the community through these events."
The Roulettes flypast over Sydney Harbour was one of many performances by the Air Force throughout the country.
Earlier in the day, a Royal Australian Navy MH-60R Seahawk helicopter, underslung with the Australian National Flag, flew over the harbour and along the northern and southern beaches of the city.
In Canberra, ADF personnel played key roles in the Citizenship and Flag Raising Ceremony, welcoming the newest Australian citizens. The ceremony featured a Royal Australian Navy MH-60R Seahawk flying the Australian National Flag, the Army firing a 21-Gun Salute, and a Royal Australian Air Force E-7A Wedgetail conducting a flyover.
