Actor Discusses Battle with Aggressive Lymphoma and Family Support
The actor shares his battle with aggressive B cell lymphoma, drawing strength from family losses and maintaining positivity through daily dance parties during treatment.
The 41-year-old actress shared insights about her partner's health struggle, stating, "He has some really tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating, it gets a little tougher and more difficult."
She emphasised that they are overcoming the illness together with a sense of humour.
"He has such a positive attitude, and you need that in order to really fight it," she remarked. "Every morning, if he's feeling up for it, we try to put on a song and do a little dance party with the dogs because when you do feel good, you have to celebrate that too."
The actor, 65, finds strength in the memories of family members who faced similar cancer experiences. "I think it's just innately in him," she explained. "He has had a lot of loss in his life when it comes to having to deal with cancer. He lost his mother, his sister, and his niece. His other sister had it."
She added, "For him, he takes every stride and really pulls strength from seeing the women that were so close in his life powering through it, and he just wants to honour them."
The beloved star of Full House first announced his diagnosis in November during an interview with USA Today. He revealed to co-anchor Hoda Kotb that he had been diagnosed five weeks prior.
"In that time I've had three surgeries, I've had chemo, I've lost a little bit of hair," he stated, patting his head. "I kind of look like a baby bird now, but it has been a rollercoaster ride, for sure."
The actor disclosed he has been diagnosed with "B cell lymphoma," describing it as "aggressive."
"The onset of this growing lymphoma in my groin area was very quick so I said, 'Something's not right, I have a golf ball down here,'" he recounted to Kotb. "And so, we biopsied it, we took it out, and they said, 'You know, we wish we had better news for you, but you have B cell lymphoma, we need to get you into chemotherapy right away.'
