An anonymous USAID employee describes fear and insecurity among staff due to DOGE's actions and Elon Musk's remarks, expressing concerns over compromised personal data and future uncertainties.
Alleged USAID whistleblower Dr. Mark Moyar has disclosed concerning experiences regarding the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). An anonymous employee expressed that they and their colleagues are "psychologically frightened" by recent actions by Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
This employee spoke with CBS' "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan on Saturday, citing the need for anonymity to protect their family. They revealed there is "absolutely" fear that DOGE officials, including Musk, could access their private data.
The employee stated, "DOGE members, including Elon Musk, have access to not just the data within the USAID world and the USAID system, which includes my personal email address, my Social Security number, my entire security file." They added, "my information is entirely compromised" and is in the hands of individuals they do not trust.
Since the Trump administration's plans to shutter the $40 billion agency were announced, fear has intensified among USAID employees regarding their job security. The atmosphere of fear has disrupted communication and clarity on executive orders surrounding DEIA and administration priorities.
Criticism was also directed at Musk for labeling USAID as a "criminal organization" and a "viper's nest of radical-left Marxists who hate America." The employee stated, "To be vilified by a billionaire who has decided that he's unilaterally going to take help away from the poorest people in the world... is particularly gross and horrifying."
Concerns about access to USAID systems have also arisen, with reports indicating that 80% of staff have lost access to critical resources, leading to uncertainty about repatriating American citizens from perilous situations.
Despite DOGE's intentions to dissolve the agency, a federal judge has intervened, blocking Trump’s efforts to furlough thousands of USAID employees.
