AI-Generated Summary

Colt Ford discusses his health journey following a heart attack that led to significant dietary changes and a 60-pound weight loss, marking a new chapter in his life.

Country music star Colt Ford is switching up his diet after suffering a heart attack last April that left him in an 8-day coma. Ford, known for his hit "Slow Ride," has removed certain foods and drinks from his diet, specifically fried chicken and Mountain Dew.

For his 55th birthday, he chose health over a meal out with his wife, Megan, who suggested Waffle House. Ford declined, marking a significant shift in his lifestyle.

Having co-written Jason Aldean's song "Dirt Road Anthem," Ford reported losing 60 pounds and wearing a 32-inch waist instead of a 44. He humorously stated that there are easier diets than his own and considers this transformation a blessing.

At one point, the singer weighed 340 pounds and admitted to being a poor eater, heavily relying on unhealthy food. Now at 190 pounds, he opts for grilled chicken sandwiches when he eats fast food rather than fries and other unhealthy options.

In 2022, Ford was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness. His heart attack in Phoenix resulted in him flatlining twice and undergoing a ten-hour surgery, requiring a week on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine.

Calling the experience "life-changing," Ford expressed gratitude for surviving. "My doctor said, 'I have no idea how you survived,'" he recounted. He believes this experience was a second chance from God to make a positive impact.

Ford recalled that right before the heart attack, he had just performed at a sold-out show and texted his fiancée, saying, "Hi baby," before collapsing. His band quickly came to his aid, during which time he lost consciousness.

During his recovery, Ford was transferred to a hospital capable of better care, where he again had a near-death experience but was revived by medics. He remains optimistic and is eager to continue making music and impacting lives positively.
