Mother Arrested After Children Found Living in Unsanitary Conditions

Three children were discovered living in dire conditions in Pontiac, prompting their mother's arrest. Sheriff Bouchard condemned the situation, highlighting years of neglect.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard expressed outrage over the conditions in which three children were found living at a Pontiac home. He stated, "You wouldn't do this to an animal let alone your child." The mother had reportedly lived elsewhere and had minimal contact with her children, aged 15, 13, and 12, while occasionally leaving food on the porch.
The alarming discovery was made when a landlord raised concerns about unpaid rent and suspected there might be an issue at the house. Authorities found the conditions so severe that investigators were required to wear hazmat suits.
Bouchard described the scene, stating that trash was piled up to three and four feet high, and everything was covered with feces. He noted, "The toilet had become non-functional. That's the kind of situation these poor kids had been living in for years, not just hours or days -- for years." The mother is currently in jail while prosecutors deliberate on possible charges.
