Eliot Donovan departs Married At First Sight citing incompatible life priorities
Married At First Sight groom Eliot Donovan has addressed his early exit from the show, explaining that he did not see a long-term future with his bride Lauren Hall.
The 35-year-old business owner from the Gold Coast cut his honeymoon short during Wednesday evening's episode.
Eliot was driven away in a producer's car just two days into their marriage, after signs of tension emerged between him and Lauren, who he met for the first time at the altar.
Despite Lauren's initial suitability as a traditional partner, Eliot noted that her fondness for designer handbags and her desire for one child clashed with his own views. He expressed the need for a partner who shares his passion for exercise.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Eliot clarified that his decision to leave stemmed from differing life priorities rather than a lack of physical attraction. He stated, "I left because I didn't find love. I was there to find love, and I didn't see a future with Lauren."
Eliot emphasised that he did not want to endure a troubled relationship for three months and that he wouldn't compromise on his relationship dealbreakers.
Despite his departure, he remains open to love, with reports suggesting he might return as an intruder in upcoming MAFS dinner parties to confront Lauren, who is now paired with professional golfer Clint Rice.
The episode also featured other drama, as bride Katie Johnson faced heartbreak after her new husband Tim Gromie rejected her attention, leading to speculation about the couple's future.
Further emotional moments unfolded when Tamara Hall, Lauren's sister, left the wedding reception in tears over a meal dispute, later defending her portrayal on social media.
