Drake's Australian tour began with a shirtless Instagram post and a surprise intimate performance in Melbourne, delighting fans ahead of his scheduled shows across major cities.

Canadian rapper Drake has left hearts racing after posting a steamy shirtless snap from his Perth hotel before officially kicking off his Australian tour.

The 38-year-old megastar is now on our shores and left West Australians begging for more after his incredible first show last night.

He will take the stage again tonight at the RAC Arena before heading to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

It will be Drake's first shows in Australia since his Boy Meets World Tour in 2017 and fresh off 80 sold out shows in North America.

The musician teased his 143 million Instagram followers with a topless photo beside the pool yesterday, with the caption "show day in Perth."

The superstar stunned his Aussie fans over the weekend after performing a private show in a small Melbourne karaoke bar.

The intimate 90-minute surprise set in front of a room full of fans screaming his lyrics ahead of the start of his Anita Max Win Tour.

Drake took the stage at Bourke St venue Maison Batard's Le Club in a set that included unreleased songs and deep cuts for a 100-person crowd.

He played songs such as Pipe Down, Rich Baby Daddy, Faithful, and Trust Issues.

Fans were losing their minds over the performance.

"That karaoke night Drake is doing in Melbourne is too sick, proper musician fr," one wrote.

Another suggested: "Wowwww the luckiest crowd. It's giving Tiny Desk and I'd like to see it."

A third said: "Best concert rehearsal in the world lol."

The crowd, which reportedly included 25 Miss Universe contestants for the phone-free party, all covered by Drake himself, which the Herald Sun reported included "everything from champagne to martinis and shots".

Club owner Chris Lucas told the outlet he was "sworn to secrecy" over the party, adding: "It's a testament to one of the coolest new clubs this country has ever seen, which was built for this purpose to attract the big names."

For Drake, who started out as an actor on Canadian TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation, he has become a megastar in the music industry, winning four Grammy Awards and holding countless Billboard Hot 100 records, including most charted songs with 338, as well as having 78 top 10 hits and 13 No. 1 songs.

However, he landed himself in a rap feud with American rapper Kendrick Lamar last year, a battle that stunned the music industry.

While the pair had a beef that had been simmering for years, it went nuclear as they traded musical barbs throughout the year.

Although it appeared like Kendrick Lamar had the final word with his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 song Not Like Us, Drake took the battle to the courts, suing Lamar for "falsely accusing him of being a sex offender, engaging in pedophilic acts, harbouring sex offenders, and committing other criminal sexual acts."

He's also since sued his own record label Universal Music Group, who distribute both men's music.

But with Drake set for a tour in Australia while Lamar is set to be the halftime talent at the Super Bowl, fans were quick to roast the Canadian.

"Bruh had to leave the country before the Superbowl. Soft," one fan said.

Another suggested: "I guess he's scared of the Grammys too, because the Super Bowl isn't for another week ... Any way. Be careful Australia."

A third wrote: "Drake performing in someone's basement while Kendrick is going to the Superbowl!"
