Coca-Cola price hike leaves Australian shoppers frustrated
Coca-Cola prices have surged in Australia, now reaching $50 for a 30-pack. Shoppers are expressing frustration online, comparing costs to beer and lamenting historical prices.
The price of Coca-Cola has shifted recently, now ranging between $50 and $30 depending on special offers. This increase, requested by Coca-Cola as a "supplier cost request", has raised eyebrows among shoppers.
Many Australians have expressed their displeasure on social media, with some saying, "The prices are ridiculous," and others questioning if it's a "sick joke" that a 30-pack of Coke costs $50.
One shopper remarked that it might be cheaper to buy a slab of beers than soft drinks these days.
The 24-pack of Coca-Cola has also experienced a price rise at Coles and Woolworths this year, moving from $38.50 to $41.25, while the special price jumped from $23.10 to $24.75.
A TikTok account has highlighted that a 24-pack of soft drink cost only $8.99 in the 2000s. Adjusted for inflation, that would be equivalent to $17.44 today.
Shoppers are reminded that Coca-Cola prices can change frequently, with the prices typically shifting every seven days. This could be the best week to buy Coca-Cola at Coles before the price rises again.
