Whistleblower Challenges USAID's Focus on Diversity and Inclusion under Biden Administration
A whistleblower has exposed USAID's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion under the Biden administration, claiming it has led to negative consequences domestically and internationally.
U.S. Marines from Joint Task Force 505 load USAID relief supplies from the United States Agency for International Development onto a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal.
A whistleblower who previously worked for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has recently revealed that the agency has made diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) a central focus under the Biden-Harris administration. This testimony comes as President Donald Trump's administration and the Department of Government Efficiency are reportedly shutting down USAID.
Mark Moyar, the whistleblower, described the emphasis on DEI by Samantha Power as part of a broader initiative by the Biden administration to integrate DEI into every federal agency. He claimed this approach resulted in negative outcomes, including employees taking time off work for "indoctrination sessions," and a narrative that divided people into oppressor and victim groups.
According to Moyar, "far left theories" gained legitimacy during the 2020 Black Lives Matter movement, leading to diminished respect for the U.S. from other countries following the emphasis on DEI within USAID.
He stated, "It's particularly disturbing that not only were they pushing within the organization, they were actually funding DEI events all over the world, such as DEI comic books and workshops. This can only undermine our image abroad." Moyar criticized the global perception of DEI as divisive and nonsensical.
Moyar also pointed out that Samantha Power mandated a perspective that viewed all matters through a "gendered lens," which necessitated employing many gender and DEI consultants funded by taxpayer money.
USAID's archived website includes a page detailing DEI goals and policies promoted before the onset of the second Trump administration. A quote from Power on the DEI page emphasizes the organization's commitment to combating bigotry, discrimination, and structural racism.
