Wade Boggs announced he is cancer free after a battle with prostate cancer. The Hall of Fame third baseman shared the news emotionally on social media.
The Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs made a heartfelt announcement on social media on Friday, five months after revealing his prostate cancer diagnosis.
"An extremely emotional day I can't thank my doctors Dr. Engleman and Dr. Heidenberg enough also to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Debbie and I are pleased to announce I am cancer free," Boggs shared.
The 66-year-old Boggs had an illustrious career, playing 18 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) with teams including the Boston Red Sox (1982-1992), New York Yankees (1993-1997), and Tampa Bay Rays (1998-1999).
He earned the title of a five-time batting champion and was a 12-time All-Star. His remarkable performance led to his first-ballot election to the Hall of Fame in 2005.
Following the announcement, the Hall of Fame congratulated Boggs, expressing their joy on social media with the message: "The best news for @ChickenMan3010."
