Chelsea Handler Targets Melania Trump and DEI at Critics Choice Awards
Chelsea Handler criticized Melania Trump and discussed DEI initiatives during her hosting at the Critics Choice Awards, as Trump's administration pushes to dismantle these programs.
During the Critics Choice Awards, comedian Chelsea Handler made headlines with her sharp remarks aimed at First Lady Melania Trump, humorously referencing an imaginary biopic called "Anora".
Handler joked, "It was a huge year for biopics ... 'Anora,' about Melania Trump," highlighting the film's premise about a young sex worker from Brooklyn who marries into an oligarch's family.
Handler didn't stop there; she also took a jab at Cheryl Hines, spouse of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., saying those who didn't win awards were left "questioning your life choices, like Cheryl Hines at a Senate confirmation hearing."
The comedian expressed her frustrations with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, stating, "I am your DEI host, Chelsea Handler," and emphasized the turmoil many feel in today's political climate.
Handler's comments come in the wake of President Donald Trump's push to eliminate DEI programs, which he aims to counter with a recently issued executive order. This has sparked significant reactions, with Baltimore's Democratic mayor joining a lawsuit against the president's directives.
