Trump Revokes Biden's Security Clearance Citing Precedent
US President Donald Trump has announced that he will revoke the security clearance of his predecessor, Joe Biden. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information."
He emphasized that his administration would be rescinding Biden's security clearances and daily intelligence briefings, declaring, "JOE, YOU'RE FIRED."
Trump criticized Biden for having established this practice in 2021 when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to deny Trump access to national security details, stating, "a courtesy provided to former Presidents."
Moreover, Trump expressed concerns about Biden's ability to handle sensitive information, referencing a justice department inquiry into Biden's storage of classified files, which mentioned that Biden had a poor memory.
Biden has been relatively quiet since leaving office last month and has yet to respond to Trump's remarks. Notably, when he assumed the presidency in 2021, Biden restricted Trump from receiving intelligence briefings, citing Trump's "erratic behaviour."
