Real Madrid Defender Antonio Rüdiger Faces Injury Setback
Real Madrid central defender Antonio Rüdiger has been diagnosed with a leg muscle injury sustained during a Spanish league match on Saturday.
Madrid announced on Sunday that Rüdiger has "an injury to the biceps femoris" in his right leg, which will likely prevent him from participating in their upcoming Champions League match against Manchester City on February 11.
The 31-year-old German player was substituted in the 15th minute of Madrid's 1-0 loss at Espanyol.
While Madrid did not provide a specific timetable for Rüdiger's return, Spanish media reports suggest that he is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks.
In the meantime, Madrid will compete against Leganes in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, host Atlético Madrid in the Spanish league on Saturday, and face Manchester City for their UCL playoff next Tuesday.
