AI-Generated Summary

Bevelyn Beatty Williams, a pro-life protester recently pardoned by President Trump after serving over three years in prison, reflects on her experiences and emphasizes the importance of ongoing dialogue.

A pro-life protester, Bevelyn Beatty Williams, expressed her ongoing thoughts about President Donald Trump’s recent pardon, after being sentenced to over three years in prison. “To be pardoned by the President of the United States is something that I'm still trying to register,” Williams shared with Fox News Digital. “I don't think I can fathom in my mind how big this is because I don't see myself as... the celebrity that people like to call me. I'm just like regular, old Bevelyn.”

On Friday, Trump pardoned 23 pro-life prisoners who had been convicted under a law known as the FACE Act, which prohibits the use of force against individuals accessing abortion clinics and healthcare services. “We released 23 people that were unjustly put in, and having to do with pro-life. And they will be released, and they'll be out very shortly. It was disgraceful what happened,” Trump commented.

Williams, who organized a protest outside a Planned Parenthood in Manhattan in June 2020, reportedly injured a worker's hand while attempting to block access to the clinic. The U.S. Attorney’s office noted her aggressive actions during the protests, including physically obstructing patients and staff.

On July 24, 2024, she received a sentence of 41 months in prison from U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Rochon, who remarked on her repeated intimidation and obstruction of individuals seeking reproductive health services.

Williams reflected on her sentencing and the impact it had on her family, particularly her husband. “My husband was devastated,” she recalled. “Every day was like a clock counting down until the day I had to turn myself in.” She also noted the emotional impact on her young daughter, who felt her absence during her time away.

Though unsure of her next steps, Williams emphasized the need for ongoing dialogue. “For me, this is not the time to settle. I feel like the fight is still on now,” she stated. “I think this is a time to start having conversations that may have been tough as they have in the past.”
