Jayden Daniels wins Offensive Rookie of the Year for Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders, won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award following a record-breaking debut season that led the team to the NFC Championship Game.
Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders, has made a remarkable NFL debut season by winning The Associated Press' Offensive Rookie of the Year award at the NFL Honors ceremony held in New Orleans.
Under his leadership, the Commanders transformed from a 4-13 team to a remarkable 12-5 record, reaching the NFC Championship Game.
Daniels is the first Washington player to earn the Offensive Rookie of the Year title since Robert Griffin III in 2012.
As the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft, Daniels recorded a historic season. He became the first rookie in NFL history to achieve over 3,500 passing yards and over 800 rushing yards in a single season.
His performance helped the Commanders average 28.5 points per game, the highest scoring rate for a team with a rookie quarterback.
In addition to Daniels' achievements, former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was honored as the Assistant Coach of the Year, while Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and ex-Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn took second and third place in the voting, respectively.
