Aircraft Incident Halts Operations at Ronald Reagan National Airport
Emergency personnel responded to an incident involving an aircraft near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Virginia on Wednesday night. Following the event, all takeoffs and landings at the airport have been temporarily suspended, as confirmed by both the airport authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Multiple helicopters, including units from the US Park Police, DC Metropolitan Police Department, and US military, were observed flying over the Potomac River at the scene. DC Fire and EMS reported via X that fireboats were also present on the river.
Footage captured by an observation camera at the nearby Kennedy Center showed two sets of lights resembling aircraft merging into a fireball, raising concerns about the incident.
The airport has stated that emergency personnel are currently addressing "an aircraft incident on the airfield".
