Woman arrested after starting fire at petrol station in Melbourne
Dramatic footage captures the moment a woman was kicked, punched and tasered after allegedly starting a fire inside a petrol station in inner-city Melbourne.
Police officers and firefighters were called to a petrol station on Punt Rd in Windsor about 12.30am on Wednesday after reports a woman allegedly assaulted a staff member before starting a fire inside the store.
The staff member was not physically injured.
The woman was allegedly armed with an accelerant when police arrived.
Footage reveals the moment police attempted to arrest the woman, who was allegedly resisting arrest while sitting outside the petrol station.
One of the officers kicks and strikes the woman with a baton in the legs and upper body.
The woman then tries to flee the scene but was stopped in her tracks when officers deployed a Taser.
The fire was quickly extinguished inside the store, with the building suffering minor damage.
The 46-year-old Windsor woman was arrested and charged with criminal damage by fire, theft, resist police and unlawful assault.
She has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on May 2.
