Donald Trump has stated he won't deport Prince Harry, commenting on his issues with Meghan Markle. He praises Prince William and discusses Harry's visa troubles with ongoing legal scrutiny.
Former President Donald Trump has stated that he has no intention of deporting Prince Harry, suggesting that the royal "has enough problems" due to his wife, Meghan Markle.
Trump, in an interview, expressed his lack of interest in expelling the Duke of Sussex from the United States amid ongoing visa complications. In his remarks, he described Meghan as "terrible," indicating a disdain for the Duchess.
Contrasting his criticism of Meghan, Trump praised Harry's older brother, Prince William, calling him a "great young man." The Duke of Sussex's visa troubles resurfaced this week following a judge's decision to potentially make documents public in an ongoing legal dispute regarding the accuracy of Harry's visa application.
The legal case was initiated last year by The Heritage Foundation, which sued the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to determine whether Harry was truthful regarding drug use on his visa application, specifically asking if he had "ever used drugs or been a drug abuser or addict." In his 2023 memoir, Spare, Harry acknowledged using substances like cocaine and marijuana.
Nile Gardiner from The Heritage Foundation commented on the situation, stating that if Harry answered the question honestly, he would have required a visa waiver. He questioned whether Harry had received special treatment and emphasised the public's right to know.
Initially, Judge Carl Nichols ruled in Harry's favour, asserting his right to privacy. However, following an appeal by The Heritage Foundation, Nichols ordered the DHS to redact personal information and proceed with releasing the documents.
Trump's derogatory comments about Meghan are not new; he has previously described her as divisive and openly disapproves of her political stance. Meghan, in a past interview, had condemned Trump as "divisive and misogynistic," even expressing her intention to move to Canada if he was elected.
In earlier discussions, Trump accused Harry of betraying the late Queen, calling it "unforgivable." He opined that Harry is heavily influenced by Meghan, stating that he is "whipped" and predicting the marriage may not last.
Trump has also suggested that the Queen should have stripped the Sussexes of their titles, arguing that Harry's actions have shown disrespect to the country.
At a past campaign event, Trump remarked about Meghan, saying: "I'm not a fan of hers, and I would say this... I wish a lot of luck to Harry, because he's going to need it."
