Trump Proposes US Ownership of Gaza Strip During Press Conference with Netanyahu
During a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the United States will take over the Gaza Strip. He stated, "The U.S. will take over the Gaza strip and we will do a job with it too. We'll own it."
Trump elaborated on the responsibilities that would come with this ownership, including dismantling unexploded bombs, demolishing destroyed buildings, and creating an economic development zone that would "supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area."
Envisioning a long-term commitment, Trump expressed his willingness to send troops if necessary. He emphasized the potential benefits, claiming, "Everyone I have spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land, developing and creating thousands of jobs with something that will be magnificent."
Trump also shared his vision of the "world's people" living in Gaza, which could even become the "Riviera of the Middle East." Netanyahu agreed, suggesting that this idea could change history.
During the meeting, Trump announced plans to relocate the entire population of Gaza, estimated at 1.7 million people. He expressed confidence that Egypt and Jordan would not oppose this proposal, despite previous rejections from leaders of both nations.
Referring to Gaza as a "demolition site," Trump insisted that people reside there only because there are no alternatives. Netanyahu praised Trump as the "greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House," expressing gratitude for funding cuts to organizations that support terrorism.
In revealing a contingency plan against potential threats from Iran, Trump stated, "if they do it, they get obliterated. There won't be anything left."
