Kristi Noem Joins Border Patrol to Address Immigration Challenges in Del Rio Texas
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited Del Rio, Texas, expressing support for Border Patrol agents and addressing challenges related to illegal immigration and resource shortages.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is demonstrating strong support for Border Patrol agents as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to tackle the illegal immigration crisis impacting the United States.
During a visit to Del Rio, Texas, Noem was accompanied by "Fox & Friends" co-host Lawrence Jones, where they conducted a helicopter and horseback tour to investigate the situation at the southern border.
Noem mentioned, "Some of the agents we rode with today were the ones that were falsely accused of whipping those Haitian migrants," referencing an incident from 2021 when former President Biden and other leading Democrats wrongly accused border agents of misconduct.
She emphasized the importance of support for the agents, stating, "So, to ride with them today and have them know that their leadership has their back, I think is critically important." She noted the previous leadership under DHS and Mayorkas did not provide adequate support for the agents.
The Trump administration, including Noem, is actively pursuing crackdowns on illegal immigration, aiming to deport illegal migrants with criminal backgrounds. Following her confirmation, she participated in immigration raids in New York City targeting these individuals.
Noem criticized the lack of funding and previous government reluctance to aid ICE agents, claiming, "The hundreds of billions of dollars this country spends, and we're not giving our law enforcement the tools they need to be successful."
She further described the needs of border agents, including better resources for their horse patrol program and specialized equipment like snow tires for vehicles in colder regions like Vermont.
In her effort to enhance border security, Noem is meeting with agents to ascertain their needs and improve safety and efficiency in protecting the borders.
She concluded, "That will help me do a better job making sure we're keeping America safe and fulfilling what President Trump has promised."
