California Congressman Calls for More Aggressive Tactics Against Trump

California Rep. Robert Garcia emphasizes the need for Democrats to adopt more aggressive tactics against Trump, including a call for "actual weapons" in defending democracy, following his remarks about Elon Musk.
California Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia stated on Wednesday that Americans want their representatives to "bring actual weapons" in the ongoing fight for democracy against President Donald Trump.
Garcia made headlines as he went viral after mocking Tesla CEO and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk during the inaugural House DOGE subcommittee hearing.
The congressman displayed a large image of Musk, dubbing it a "d--- pic."
Garcia later defended his comments on "CNN News Central," asserting that the American public is demanding a more robust approach. He emphasized, "I think [Musk is] also harming the American public in an enormous way. The American public wants us to bring actual weapons to this bar fight. This is an actual fight for democracy, for the future of this country."
When questioned about the effectiveness of his tactics, he remained unapologetic. CNN host Brianna Keilar asked him, "Do you think that calling Elon Musk a d--- is effective messaging for confronting what is a potentially irreversible transformation of the U.S. Government?" Garcia responded bluntly, "Well, he is a d---."
Increasingly aggressive rhetoric has surfaced among some congressional Democrats regarding protests against Trump and Musk. During a recent rally in Baltimore, Maryland Democratic Rep. Kweisi Mfume introduced the idea of a "street fight" against DOGE, saying, "This will be a congressional fight, a constitutional fight, a legal fight, and on days like this a street fight, yes we will stand."
Furthermore, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., also called for Democrats to take action against Trump's agenda "in the streets." He highlighted the imperative to protect everyday Americans from what he termed an "extreme MAGA Republican agenda" that unfairly benefits billionaires and corporations at the expense of the working class.
