Delta jet crashes at Toronto Pearson Airport with no fatalities
A Delta jet crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport with 80 people on board. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but 18 individuals sustained injuries. This incident is part of a troubling trend of aviation disasters in the U.S. in 2025.
A Delta jet carrying 80 people crashed in Toronto on Monday, becoming the latest in a series of aviation disasters during the first two months of 2025.
From Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia to Arizona and Alaska, the U.S. has seen multiple major disasters responsible for killing dozens of people so far this year.
Luckily no one was killed in Monday's crash, which happened when the Delta jet flipped and crashed while landing at the Toronto Pearson International Airport. The plane, which had departed from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport in Minnesota, was carrying 76 passengers and four crewmembers, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said. Of them, 18 people were taken to the hospital with injuries.
The latest crash comes as about 400 recently hired FAA support staff employees were fired over the weekend, part of the Trump administration's mass terminations of federal workers. The layoffs include environmental compliance workers, aeronautical information specialists, maintenance workers, mechanics and more according to David Spero, national president of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists union.

Preliminary estimates for 2023 suggest a further decline in fatalities," the report states. "There were no deaths from crashes on large commercial airlines in 2023, but several hundred deaths occurred in crashes in general aviation, commuter air, and air taxi services."
